What is a playlist, and why is it important? According to Wikipedia: A playlist is a list of video or audio files that can be played on a media player either sequentially or in a shuffled order. In its most general form, an audio playlist is simply a list of songs, but sometimes a loop.
There are plenty of playlists and plenty of different platforms. But for now, we will focus on Spotify. According to one source, you can find over 4 billion user-generated playlists. I have playlists of my own - one to wake up with, one for the shower, one when I am feeling funky (in a good way), and more. The River of Calm also has many playlists for studying and focusing.
Once in a while, my piano pieces are included in other artists' playlists. Truthfully, I have yet to put the time in to get on other playlists. There is a whole science about this, and I love it when another artist shares my music the way we do with theirs at The River of Calm.
However, there is one playlist that I am on that came as a huge surprise. The playlist is from Abbey Road Studio 2 - yes, THE Abbey Road Studio 2. I am stunned that one of my compositions, "Morning Glory," shares the same space as songs by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Ed Sheeran, Adele, and more. How in the world did I end up with these greats?
Please enjoy this Spotify Playlist from Abbey Road Studio 2 - and hear me smiling in the background!
